NELSON

Established in 1841, Nelson is one of the oldest cities in New Zealand – and it’s one of the sunniest, too. With an average of around 2,500 hours of sunshine per year, only neighbouring Blenheim enjoys more of the big yellow ball.

Two of New Zealand’s largest bays can be found in Nelson – Golden and Tasman. The city is also surrounded by sprawling, lush national parkland, replete with forests, mountains and lakes just waiting to be explored by the intrepid traveller – you!
