This role is responsible for the delivery of Diesel Mechanic services to our Clients.

Diesel mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles, plant and machinery. Their duties include running diagnostic tests on vehicles, test driving vehicles to gauge performance and maintaining detailed records of the vehicles they have serviced.

 

General Diesel Mechanic Duties will include:

  • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles, plant, and machinery
  • Analysing diagnostic test results
  • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems etc.
  • Checking vehicle lighting systems
  • Test driving vehicles/machines to gauge performance
  • Performing preventative maintenance on vehicles, plant, and machinery
  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles, plant, and machinery
  • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist
  • Maintaining a parts inventory
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the workshop

 

Person specifications (competencies, attributes, experience, qualifications)

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering or relevant experience
  • Valid drivers’ license and endorsements
  • Aptitude for mathematics and science
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components
  • Good IT and diagnostic skills
  • Physically fit and able to lift to 25 kg plus
  • Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Good organisation skills
