A full range of employment opportunities exist in the Wellington region.

IT – This is a very strong sector in Wellington. Many opportunities exist across the sector from senior managers / project managers to developers, architects, engineers etc.

Health – There are three DHBs (District Health Boards) in the region, all requiring health professionals – medical, dental therapy, nursing and all allied health categories.

Business – Senior managers, advisers, accountants, auditors, analysts and HR specialists are just some of the available roles.

Professional Engineers – A whole range of opportunities are available in the engineering field – civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical, electrical. Specialists in water, waste water, the environment, energy are a few examples.

Construction – Opportunities include - Engineers, architects, project managers, surveyors and trades professionals. Also roading supervisors, contract managers, estimators, project engineer.

Trades – Skilled trades people of all types are in demand. For example, plumbers, electricians, carpenters/joiners, HVAC specialists, automotive technicians and others.

Education & Science – Teaching positions at all levels of the curriculum are available and well qualified and experienced professionals in the science field are sought after for Crown Research Institutes and other private and university based research organisations as well as commercial organisations.
